BEXLEY, Ohio- Capital never trailed Saturday afternoon, handing Otterbein its second Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) loss this week. The shooting struggles from Wednesday night continued into Saturday, with Otterbein never establishing themselves much on offense.
Capital now sits at 11-8 overall, and 7-5 during OAC play. With the loss, Otterbein falls to 6-13 on the season and 3-9 within the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The host Crusaders jumped out to an early 21-8 lead after the first 10 minutes of action, taking advantage of a cold shooting start for the Cards.
- Capital never lost the lead throughout the first, and led by 16 at one point before taking a 41-26 lead into the break.
- Otterbein battled the entire second half, outscoring the Crusaders 35-33 over the final 20 minutes, but the halftime deficit was too much to overcome.
- In a wire-to-wire effort, Capital walked away victorious 74-61.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Capital's Tyler Schreck scored a game-high 24 points, with Ganiyu Yahaya adding 13.
- Dallas Patrick paced the Cardinal offense with 20 points and Mo Beavers added 15 points, scoring 12 in the first half.
- Capital shot at a 51 percent mark for the game, while Otterbein converted at a 41 percent rate.
- Both teams struggled from behind the three-point arc, going a combined 7 of 29.
