ADA, Ohio- A low scoring first quarter put Otterbein in an early eight point deficit and proved too much to overcome with Ohio Northern claiming victory, 69-59.
The loss drops Otterbein to 11-11 on the season, and 6-9 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play. ONU moves themselves to 16-6 overall and 10-5 in conference play. The Cardinals will play their final road game of the regular season on Saturday, traveling to New Concord for a 7 p.m. tip with Muskingum.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Otterbein was held to just 3 of 11 shooting in the first quarter, despite going 2 of 4 from three ONU took a 16-8 lead after one.
- The second quarter was much friendly to the Cards, who posted 17 points, but the Polar Bears extended their lead taking a 40-25 advantage into the half.
- The Cards found their rhythm in the second half and played better defense, outscoring ONU 34-29 over the final two quarters.
- The first half deficit was too much to overcome however, and ONU held on for the win at home.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Jenna Hoschouer scored a game-high 14 points, while teammate Angelia Jackson joined her in double-digits with 10, each collected eight rebounds.
- Abby Weeks and Jaclyn Yankle were the only Polar Bears in double-figures, each scoring 14.
- ONU now sits third in the OAC standings, while Otterbein falls to seventh.
