WESTERVILLE, Ohio- On senior day Saturday afternoon inside the Rike Center, Otterbein women's basketball gave 12th ranked Baldwin Wallace their best shot, ultimately falling short by a final score of 68-50. The Cardinals had the visiting Yellow Jackets on the ropes with 3:11 left in the contest, trailing just 58-50. Baldwin Wallace showed why they're ranked No. 12 in all of Division three over the final 3 minutes, ending the game on a 10-0 run.

Baldwin Wallace wraps up the regular season at 23-2 overall, and 17-1 within the Ohio Athletic Conference, good enough for a regular season championship and the first seed in next week's OAC Tournament. Otterbein will fall to 12-13 overall and 7-11 in conference play, they will travel to Berea on Tuesday to face these same Yellow Jackets, game time is TBD.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After a fast-paced first quarter it looked like Baldwin Wallace was going to run away with the game, taking an early 24-14 lead after one.

  • Otterbein relied heavily on its defense in the second quarter, holding the Yellow Jackets to just 12 points.

  • Baldwin Wallace held a 36-31 lead at the break, as Jenna Hoschouer led all scorers with 10-points.

  • Things tightened up on both sides in the third quarter, with Otterbein outscoring BW 11-10.

  • The upset bid fell short in the fourth as BW escaped victorious after outscoring the Cards 22-8.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Hoschouer scored a team-high 13 points and collected six rebounds.

  • Abbie Scholz joined her in double figures with 11 points, while Abby Zerkle added 10. Scholz needs just four rebounds to move into fourth all-time on the career rebounds list.

  • Senior Delaney Cutteridge, who was forced to miss the remainder of the season after an injury on January 8, made her return to the starting lineup today, walking-boot and all. Cutteridge was honored for her four years of dedication by scoring Otterbein's first basket.
