Men's Lacrosse Splits Outings in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Otterbein men's lacrosse team split a pair of games during its spring break trip out west, opening with a nice victory over Adams State before a setback to Colorado College during a Wednesday afternoon affair.

The Cardinals, now 3-2 on the season, will have a full week off before getting back on the field at Oberlin next Wednesday. Opening faceoff for that showdown is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Monday vs. Adams State (17-7 Win):

Otterbein took control early and often against the NCAA Division II Grizzlies, beginning the game on an 8-0 run by the midway point of the second quarter. Robby Fields scored three times in the span as the Cards eventually took a 9-2 lead into halftime.

The Cardinals put things away early in the third quarter, commencing with a pair of man-up goals and launching the half on a 4-1 run. Otterbein also ran off four-straight goals in the fourth period to leave little doubt in the outcome.

A total of 12 different players scored for Otterbein, which got a combined nine points from Fields and Xander Seal. Thomas Baert went 9 of 10 on faceoffs for the Cards while the defense kept Adams State to an 0 for 4 output.

Wednesday vs. Colorado College (17-6 Loss):

The script was flipped on Otterbein in the second outing, as the host Tigers began the day on a 5-1 run and never looked back. A man-up goal from Nick Asuan ended the first quarter, but Colorado College responded with six-straight goals in the second to maintain breathing room.

A pair of goals from Seal took the contest into halftime, but Otterbein was held scoreless in the third quarter and could never fully catch up. Seal had four points in the affair while Mike Brendle added two.

The Tigers finished with a 46-32 shot advantage and captured 19 of 26 faceoffs.
