WESTERVILLE, Ohio- Women's Soccer opened up Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action with a 2-0 win over Mount Union. The Cardinals are now 7-1 on the season, with their lone loss coming to nationally ranked Case Western in the opener.

The Cards got on the board first in the closing seconds of the first half after a beautiful play design produced a blocked shot. The goal came after the ball bounced through a crowd of Purple Raider defenders and eventually found the foot of Mackenzie Peeke. With just 14 seconds on the clock, Peeke delivered, finishing in the lower-left corner of the goal.

In the second half, the Cardinal defense shined, limiting Mount Union to just two shots. Otterbein was able to add its second score of the afternoon when Bailey Zanella sent a header into the upper left corner after a failed clear attempt by the Raiders.

Otterbein is now 15-0-1 against Mount Union since 2007; the Cards have won five straight in the series since a 0-0 tie in 2016. The Cardinal offense produced 21 shots in total with nine on frame; Mount managed just six shots total. The Cardinals have now won four straight OAC openers. Their last loss came in a 2017 overtime match with Capital.

The Cardinals will return to action Wednesday night when they welcome Marietta to Memorial Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest.
