WESTERVILLE, Ohio- The Cardinals are off to a 2-0 start in conference action after a dominating performance Wednesday night inside of Memorial Stadium.

Otterbein jumped out to an early lead and never looked back on its way to blanking the visiting Pioneers of Marietta College, 3-0.

THE MATCH:
  • It took just under six minutes for the Cardinals to take a 1-0 lead; it came at the 5:49 mark when Payton Kaufman collected a rebound in mid-air and delivered a header into the upper left corner of the net.

  • The Cards added on just before the break when Lauren Alley used some fancy footwork to break down a defender and find her fourth score of the season.

  • Late in the second half, Mackenzie Peeke did her best impression of the Alley goal for the third score of the night. Peeke used a quick tap ahead to blow past her defender before she sent a shot across the face of the goal that floated into the upper left corner.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Marietta managed just four shots, all coming in the first half.

  • The Cardinal offense produced 23 shots (10 on target) and a whopping 17 corner kicks.

  • Otterbein not lost to Marietta on the women's soccer field in two decades.
