WBB: Late Cardinal Rally Falls Short to No. 16 Baldwin Wallace

WESTERVILLE, Ohio- Trailing by 19 late, the Otterbein Women's Basketball team made a late push to pull within striking distance, but it was the No. 16-ranked Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets who emerged victorious, 65-51.

The Yellow Jackets improve to 7-1 overall (their only loss coming to No. 1 Hope) with the win and remain unbeaten at 4-0 within the Ohio Athletic Conference. Meanwhile, the Cardinals fall to 6-3 overall and 2-2 inside the OAC.

Baldwin Wallace jumped out to an early advantage, eventually holding a 17-12 lead after one-quarter of action. An explosive final three minutes in the second frame from BW helped lift the visitors out to a 37-24 halftime lead.

The Cardinal offense clicked on all cylinders in the third but could only cut the lead down to six before the Jackets once again led by 11 heading into the fourth.

The score froze at 58-29 for nearly two minutes, and then the Cardinal press began causing turnovers. Otterbein cut the lead down to nine from 19 thanks to a 10-0 run and missed free throws from BW.
The visitors were able to hang on for the win, though, as they deployed 11 different players during the game, keeping legs fresh for the critical closing moments.

Angelia Jackson and Jenna Hoschouer led all scorers with 12-points each, while Lily Edwards paced the BW offense with 11. The BW bench poured in 40 points compared to just 12 from the Cards.
