ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's soccer team opened its unconventional spring season with a nice victory Sunday afternoon on the road, scoring once in each half to walk away from Mount Union with a 2-0 triumph.
The Cardinals, winning their season opener for the fifth year in a row, also keep a lengthy unbeaten streak against the Purple Raiders intact… having not lost to Mount Union since 1998.
Senior
Myiah Kelley put Otterbein in front for good midway through the first half, scoring the team's first goal of the season at the 29:04 mark. The Cards entered halftime holding lopsided advantages in shots (17-2) and corner kicks (7-0).
Junior
Delaney Earl doubled up Otterbein's lead in the 61st minute, giving the team more than enough breathing room to leave town victorious.
By the final horn, Otterbein held a 27-8 edge in total shots (15-3 on goal) and forced Mount Union goalkeeper Claudia Wilson to make 13 saves.
Erin Gordon had three on the opposite end for the Cards.

Bella Shivley led all players with eight shots in the match while Earl andÂ
Emily Ganz both ripped off another five.
Otterbein will continue settling into the young season and return to action on Thursday, heading to Marietta College for a first kick at 7 p.m.
