BEREA, Ohio – A matchup of unbeaten men's lacrosse teams within the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) went in favor of host Baldwin Wallace Saturday afternoon, as the Yellow Jackets flew past the Cardinals by count of 17-4 inside George Finnie Stadium.
Otterbein, entering the day on a four-game winning streak, took a step up in competition and unfortunately absorbed its first conference defeat of the spring. BW remains unblemished on the year at 6-0 overall, 4-0 against the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- BW only led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, with Otterbein's tally coming on a goal via freshman Aidan Moore at the 1:33 mark.
Â
- The Yellow Jackets busted things open in the second frame, netting seven goals with the last two coming on man-down sequences for the Cardinals. As a result, BW carried a 10-3 cushion into the break.
Â
- Nawny Bailey scored five minutes into the third quarter, trying to spark some momentum for Otterbein, but that would end up being the team's only score of the half…
Â
- Baldwin Wallace scored two minutes later, beginning a 7-0 run that effectively put the game away.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- BW finished 5 of 7 on man-up opportunities while Otterbein was unable to convert during all four of its chances.
Â

Â
- Cardinal goalie Zach Groene went the distance, making 10 saves throughout the afternoon.
Â
- Freshman Jake Nanosky tallied nine points, three goals and six assists, while older brother Nick scored four times himself.
Â
LOOKING AHEAD:
Otterbein will have the full week off to prepare before hosting a rematch with Ohio Northern, taking place next Saturday inside Memorial Stadium at 1 p.m. The two sides played to an 8-7 contest in the opener this spring, although this next one will now count for the league standings.
