TIFFIN, Ohio – Women's soccer continued its winning ways Sunday afternoon, this time with a 2-0 win against Heidelberg. The Cardinals are now a perfect 5-0 on the year while Heidelberg falls to 0-3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cardinals, who have become accustomed to scoring early, didn't even need a goal scorer today as Heidelberg committed an own goal just 6:01 into the match. The Cardinals did however see plenty of opportunities to build on the lead throughout the first half, outshooting the hosts 13 to 0.
Emily Ganz scored the Cardinals second goal of the day, the first by and Otterbein player, at 62:01 in the second half. The Cards continued firing shots at a high rate the rest of the way, holding an 11-1 advantage in the second half.
Heidelberg managed just one-off target shot all afternoon, making for a stress-free outing for
Erin Gordon between the posts. On the other side of things the Cardinals peppered Heidelberg with 24 shots and 16 on frame, but Meredith Bruce stood strong for the hosts in net making 15 saves in 90 minutes of action.  Â
The defense and goal keeping has now posted a clean sheet in four of five wins and hasn't allowed a goal in over a week.
UP NEXT:
The Cards will hit the road again on Thursday, this time traveling to Wilmington for a 7 p.m. contest.
