FINAL RESULTS
BEXLEY, Ohio – The Otterbein men's tennis squad capped off its week with another triumph, this time coming in the form of a 9-0 rout across town at rival Capital.
The Cardinals, fresh off a notable road victory earlier this week at Ohio Northern, worked through a few challenging stretches Saturday afternoon en route to securing the shutout. Otterbein now stands 2-1 on the spring season.
Brandon Wall and
Jamie Price competed through a nice showdown at top doubles, ultimately emerging 8-5, while the other duos of
Tom Ohler/
Jake McDivitt and
Jared Deel/
Connor Radune posted clean 8-0 sheets.
Wall then registered another impressive victory against a tough opponent, outlasting Capital ace Graeme Green by matching counts of 6-3, 6-3. He recently beat reigning OAC Player of the Year Vinh Thai (ONU), and now could be the favorite to claim that honor this time around should he continue handling business.
Radune found himself in a bit of a battle at the second position, beating Ven Naik 6-1 in the opening set before dropping a 6-4 rebuttal. Nevertheless, he stayed the course and pulled away to win 10-4 in the subsequent tiebreak.
The rest would be as cool as the other side of the pillow. Price, McDivitt, Ohler and
Boban Mihajlov all skipped to 6-0, 6-0 victories for a well-rounded shutout.
Otterbein will be back on the court Wednesday afternoon at Marietta, with first serve against the Pioneers slated for 3:30 p.m.
