WBB: Offense Clicks in 76-63 Win Over Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio- Otterbein Women's Basketball carried its momentum from the Smokey Ballenger Classic back into conference play Saturday afternoon when they traveled up to Tiffin for a matchup with Heidelberg.

The Cardinals used a balanced offensive attack that saw four players score in double-figures to take down the Student Princes, 76-63. The win moves Otterbein to 9-3 overall and 4-2 inside of Ohio Athletic Conference (0AC) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both sides came out of the gate hot, scoring a combined 43 points in the first quarter, with the Cards holding a slight 22-21 lead.

  • The Otterbein offense stayed hot in the second quarter, scoring another 17 points, but Heidelberg went cold. The hosts shot 3-of-12 from the field and 1-of-5 behind the three-point line.

  • Heidelberg outscored Otterbein in the third frame, but another solid closing quarter was just what the Cardinals needed to collect their fourth conference win of the season.

  • Otterbein converted 8-of-12 field goals in the final quarter and went 1-of-1 from three.
STATS THAT MATTER:
  • Katie McCrary, pacing the offense lately, led the way with a game-high 18-points in 30 minutes; she was an efficient 8-of-11 from the field.

  • Kathleen DeCarlo set a pair of career-highs with 15 points and 12 rebounds off the bench, her first career double-double. Angelia Jackson and Bryn Mangold chipped in 11 points; Jackson barely missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

  • The Otterbein bench outscored Heidelberg 23-7.

  • The fast break was kind to the Cardinals as well, with a final advantage of 23-7.
