WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Men's Soccer enjoyed a nice Senior Day inside Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon with a decisive 4-0 victory over Baldwin Wallace. Otterbein took time before kickoff to celebrate Gabe Sharrock, Joshua Conroy, Coby Stover, and Will Isaac's commitment and contributions to the program during their time as Cardinals.
The Cards quickly began dominating possession during a large portion of the game and left few opportunities for the Yellow Jackets to develop play in the opposite territory. As a result, Otterbein moves to 3-1-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference play to keep pace within the top-half of the league standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-
Isaac came out strong just eight minutes into the game by notching his first goal of the contest. Matt Hinkle sent a well placed through ball across the field towards a pressing Isaac. Despite being shoulder-to-shoulder with his defender, he controlled the pass out of the air and finished his shot (lower-right corner) on the next step.
-
Isaac then placed another point on the board during the 71st minute following 25-plus minutes of scoreless in the second half. After a nice chip from Carter Ely, Isaac drove across the Yellow Jacket 18-yard box past two defenders and fired a shot that Zoltan Nagy just couldn't reach.
-
Defender Hayden Vu claimed the third goal of the contest. Hinkle switched sides of the field and played a pass to Vu, who carried the ball 30 yards upfield (unmarked) and ripped a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that soared into the upper-left corner of the goal.
-
Fittingly, the culminating goal of the contest came from Stover in the 86th minute. An Otterbein goal kick led to the ball quickly being placed in Yellow Jacket territory. Giuseppe Maida split two defenders and sent a perfect pass to the right foot of Stover who one-touched across the box and found the lower-left corner of the net.Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
-
The Cardinal offense ran wild producing a total of 28 shots, landing 15 on frame. Baldwin Wallace was held to a mere three shots and only managed one on target.
-
Nagy had to work hard between the posts fighting off many Cardinals attempts to score, finishing the match with 11 saves overall. Casey Thompson found little action only needing to make one save, but that stop alongside the help of the defense led to Otterbein's sixth shutout of the season.
- The Cardinals completely shut down the Yellow Jackets by not allowing a single corner kick, while creating 10Â opportunities of their own in the same department.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Otterbein will finish conference play outside of Westerville, traveling to Marietta and Alliance to take on the Pioneers and Raiders (respectively) to finish out the regular season. The top-six teams will then make the OAC Tournament to begin November.
