BEREA, Ohio – Don't look now, but here comes the Otterbein women's soccer team after a roller-coaster month of September.
The Cardinals tallied their fifth-straight victory Saturday night on the road, departing Baldwin Wallace with a 2-0 decision after sandwiching a pair of goals around intermission. Otterbein tops BW for the seventh time in a row, holding a 32-4 aggregate scoring edge during the span.
Â
As a result, the team advances to 9-4-2 overall and a smooth 5-1-1 in OAC play. The Cards keep pace near the top of the league standings as a result, narrowly trailing Ohio Northern (5-0-2) by one point and then first-place Capital by three.
Otterbein doubled up Baldwin Wallace in shot (17-8) en route to a clean sheet for the third-consecutive outing. BW falls to 4-3 in league play with the loss.

HOW THEY HIT THE BOARD:
Â
The Yellow Jackets attempted to clear the ball away after an initial chance from the Cardinals to score, but a mistouch by a BW player turned the ball over to
Ava Bruns right outside the 18-yard box. She delivered a perfectly-placed pass to
Anjuli Anderson, who tapped the ball away from her defender (and past the goalkeeper) with less than five minutes before halftime.
Otterbein's second goal game less than eight minutes into the second half at the 52:28 mark thanks to another well-played through ball from Anderson, who sent a pass in the middle of three defenders to a pressing Earl. BW keeper Katie Scott came charging out in attempt to shut down the sequence, but Earl managed to rip the shot just before getting taken down by a nearby defender.
OTHER NOTABLE STATS:
Â
- Otterbein held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks while the Yellow Jackets were whistled for 13 of the 16 fouls on the night. Ella Schwertfager (four saves) and the Cardinal defense limited the hosts to just three offensive shots after the break.
Â
- Both teams played five subs off the bench.
Â
- Scott made eight saves in net for BW, which had its four-game winning streak snapped.
Â
HOME SWEET HOME:
After a week on the road, the Cardinals will get back inside Memorial Stadium for a pair of home matches to finish the regular season. Marietta comes to town on Wednesday before the Purple Raiders of Mount Union arrive Saturday. Both are slated for 7 p.m.
