UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Otterbein football team saw its season come to a close Saturday afternoon at nationally-ranked John Carroll, as the No. 22 Blue Streaks posted four touchdowns in the first quarter to pull away for good.
JCU, coming off a one-possession defeat to OAC regular-season champ Mount Union, scored on touchdowns runs of 24, 2 and 15 yards sandwiched around a 60-yard pass during the opening frame.
The Blue Streaks made it five rushing touchdowns in the first half with another pair in the second quarter, taking a 376-59 edge of total offense into the break.
Otterbein benefited from a miscue by the hosts early in the second half, as John Carroll fumbled during a punt return and saw it recovered at the plus 34 by
Gavin Edwards. The Cardinals took advantage of the short field over the next 10 plays, eventually using a short rushing TD by
Kaden Doup to hit the scoreboard. Senior
Caleb Meade nailed the extra point.
John Carroll quickly answered back, scoring another two touchdowns as the third quarter progressed to regain all momentum.

Justin Bartlett made a game-high 12 tackles while safety
Max Walden finished with another 10. Bartlett (88) and Walden (81) end the year with a combined 169 tackles between them, both ranking top 10 in the conference.
Jordan Bost-Floyd averaged 10 yards per carry, rushing seven times for 70 that included a long burst of 45. Doup completed 6 of 13 passes in the second half but was also sacked five times.
John Carroll improves to 8-2 overall with the victory, and will hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Playoffs.
