WESTERVILLE, Ohio – An impressive season for the Otterbein women's basketball squad settled with a disappointing conclusion Tuesday night, as the No. 4 seeded Cardinals were bottled up in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament.

The visiting, and No. 5 seed, Ohio Northern Polar Bears came into the Rike Center and secured a workmanlike 62-46 victory in advancing to the tournament semifinals. Otterbein, meanwhile, has a four-game winning streak snapped and ends its winter with an 18-7 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Neither team could make much of anything in the first half, shooting a combined 7 of 28 as ONU led just 8-6.

  • The Polar Bears kept up their defensive intensity in the second period, holding the Cards to a collective 6 of 26 shooting in the second half. ONU went into the break leading 23-15 as a result.

  • Both teams scored an identical 13 points in the third, where the visitors held a double-digit lead on a few occasions.

  • As with recent tradition, Otterbein made its strongest push in the fourth but couldn't quite get back over the hump this time. The Cards only trailed by two possessions (43-37) midway through the frame.

  • Ohio Northern scored the next two buckets before the game went completely scoreless across the next three minutes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • ONU shot 48% for the night compared to just 30% on the home side. Angelia Jackson scored 10 as the only Cardinal in double figures.

  • The Polar Bears had a 26-16 scoring edge in the paint.

  • The game featured a combined 42 turnovers in 40 minutes of regulation.

  • Both sides combined to make just 6 of 27 from behind the arc.

  • Ohio Northern had three players score double figures and went 19 of 22 as a group at the free-throw line.
