BEREA, Ohio- Otterbein Men's Basketball concluded a three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon, knocking off Baldwin Wallace for the Card's first win in the series since 2011, 74-71.
The Cardinals (14-6, 8-5) are currently riding a three-game win streak as they look to return home for a two-game homestand on Wednesday and Saturday with matchups against John Carroll and Heidelberg.
WHAT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before the Cardinals hit the scoreboard.
- BW led by as many as 10 in the half before Otterbein finally pulled ahead 19-18 after an 11-0 Cardinal run.
- Otterbein used a nine-to-four run to close the half after the lead changed hands twice; four different Cardinals scored the nine points.
- The second half saw Otterbein jump out to a quick start; they eventually took the largest lead of the day, 12.
- With under 10 minutes remaining, the Yellow Jackets gave the Cardinals one last push by cutting the lead down to just three, 71-68, with only 2:44 to play.
- The Cardinal defense, which has been stingy all season long, held the Yellow Jackets without a point from that mark until a three-point heave from Drew Wennes went in with 11 seconds to play.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Four Cardinals eclipsed double-digit scoring; Cam Evans led the way off the bench with a game-high 20 and 8 rebounds.
- Dallas Patrick (12), Justin Carter (12), and Jake Justice (10) paced the starting unit.
- Otterbein struggled from the free-throw line but picked up the slack by shooting 52-percent from the field and 50-percent from three while holding BW to just 8-23 from three.
