CLERMONT, Fla. – Otterbein came up short in a low-scoring, old-fashioned pitcher's duel Wednesday morning against Lakeland. The contest, originally slated for opening day, was rescheduled and then started late due to rain…
In the end, the Muskies found a way to manufacture a pair of runs and hold on for a 2-0 decision. Both teams tallied four hits and left five runner stranded on the day.
Lakeland hit the scoreboard on an RBI-single in the third, and then used a double to left-center in the fifth to extend the lead. Otterbein later had the tying run on base in the seventh before a groundout ended the game.
Bryn Grabowski was solid for the Cardinals despite having to absorb the pitching loss, albeit walking four over another complete game. Makenna Hullinger earned a win for Lakeland with seven scoreless frames.
Otterbein will have four games to finish out the trip, beginning with Gordon and Johnson & Wales across Thursday action.
