WESTERVILLE, Ohio- Otterbein Women's Lacrosse honored a trio of Seniors on Saturday before facing off with visiting Mount Union in the regular-season finale. The Cardinals, who dressed 15 fewer players than Mount, made a late second-half push but ultimately fell short, 16-12.
The Cardinals wrap up the regular season with an overall record of 7-7 and 5-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Purple Raiders jumped out to an early lead, scoring just over three minutes into the contest.

- Otterbein answered with a four-goal run that stretched over 11 minutes of the first quarter.
Â
- Mount finally got its second goal of the game at the 1:14 mark and then added another just 13 seconds later, trailing 4-3 at the end of one frame.

- The Purple Raider offense found its groove in the second quarter, outscoring the Cards 7-2 to take a 10-6 advantage into the half.

- Mount built the lead to start the second half, scoring three unanswered before the Cards finally got back on the board at the 8:07 mark.

- Otterbein made a furious push in the fourth (outscoring the visitors 4-2) but couldn't pull back any closer than a four-score margin down the homestretch.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

- Mount Union had double-digit assists on 16 goals, with only two of the Cardinal goals came off a helper from a teammate.

- The two sides combined for 41 turnovers. Otterbein forced the Purple Raiders into seven of their 20 giveaways.

- Carli Rigel paced the Cardinal offense with a five-goal outing, while Emily Willms and Lauren Newkirk added a pair.

- Prior to open draw, the Cardinals recognized a trio of seniors in Macey Buchanan, Lexie Van Cleef and Isabella Miller for their contributions to the program.

The Cardinals will now wait for the final seeding of the OAC Tournament, set to begin with the quarterfinals next weekend.
