WREST: Cards Drop OAC Dual at Top-10 Baldwin Wallace

FINAL RESULTS

BEREA, Ohio – A tall order was on the table for Otterbein within conference action Tuesday night, as the Cardinals dropped a league dual at No. 10-ranked Baldwin Wallace by a final count of 45-3.

The Yellow Jackets, winning six of the last seven OAC championships entering this season, improve to 11-2-1 in duals with the only blemishes coming against No. 1 Warburg and Top-10 Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Otterbein now sits with a 5-4 overall mark in head-to-head competition this winter.

The Cardinals forfeited at 125 and 133 pounds before dropping bonus-point matches at the next two classes.

Austin Amens (157) and Ryan Whitten (165) battled admirably during the middle section but ultimately rested just short. Amens settled on the low end of a 6-1 decision before Whitten came up just shy, 2-0, against Hunter Kupniewski in yet another grind-it-out contest.

Emerging freshman Logan Cormell, fresh off a 3-0 day at the Case Western Duals, represented Otterbein's lone points of the night at 174 pounds. He edged Carter Lloyd for a narrow 8-6 decision, improving himself to a steady 13-7 overall record this winter.

Jarrod Setliff dropped a tough matchup with No. 5-ranked Doug Byrne at 197 pounds and BW was on its way to a fourth-straight victory in dual format.

The Cardinals will look to regroup quickly with more competition on deck this weekend, heading to the OAC Quad Meet (at Mount Union) this Saturday in Alliance.
