Tough Fourth Quarter Dooms Cards in Rivalry Rematch

BEXLEY, Ohio – It was a tough fourth quarter and final result for the Otterbein women's basketball team Saturday night, as the Cardinals relinquished a lead to host Capital in a low-scoring battle.

The Cards, entering having won six of the last seven in this series (including the first installment last month), carried a 37-32 cushion into the culminating frame before the Comets rallied down the stretch.

NOTABLE TIDBITS:
  • Capital scored just eight points in both the first and third quarters, but hung close with Otterbein never scoring more than 13 in any period.

  • The Comets used an 16-4 run beginning the fourth quarter, taking a seven-point lead and holding in crunch time.

  • The Cardinals had possession trailing 50-47 in the closing seconds, but an inbounds pass was just off the mark and resulted in a turnover.

    ------------------

  • Olivia Majors scored 23 for the second time this week, representing nearly half of Otterbein's team total. She made five shots from behind the arc and went an even 8 of 16 overall.

  • Natalie Galaida, a former Capital transfer and currently the nation's leader in three-point percentage, unfortunately went 0 for 5 from long distance.

  • Kathleen DeCarlo posted a double-double featuring 12 points and 11 rebounds, playing all but one minute of the game.

  • Otterbein shot 6 of 29 in the second half.

  • Bri O'Connor nd Laney Murphy combined to score 43 of Capital's 51 team points.
