WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Despite a scoreless second half from the defense, the Otterbein football team dropped a 24-0 result to visiting Baldwin Wallace on an overcast day at Memorial Stadium.

The Cardinals, returning home after a five-week stretch away, held BW to 131 yards after the intermission but were unable to make up any ground from the halftime deficit.

Baldwin Wallace improves to 4-3 overall this season and 4-2 against the Ohio Athletic Conference. Otterbein continues searching for its first victory.

BW quarterback Joey Marousek broke a 39-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter, and doubled up that lead toward the end of the frame after Victor Ford Jr. busted a long gash down to the 1-yard line. He punched it in on the next play.

The Yellow Jackets, holding Otterbein to just seven yards of offense in the first half, added to their lead heading into the break. DJ Griffus tallied a 7-yard score and then standout kicker Joseph Evans split the uprights on a 32-yard field goal for the visitors.

Otterbein's defense continued battling and kept BW off the scoreboard for the entire second half.

The Cardinals best offensive push came midway through the fourth quarter after freshman QB Cayden Lassiter, making his first college start, hit a pair of nice passes to Declan Jewitt and Vincent Berardi to march down inside the 10. Unfortunately, the unit would later come up empty on 4th-and-Goal from the 6.

BW finished with a 348-97 edge in total offense and held possession for 34:36 of game time. The visitors picked up 13 of their 18 first downs on the ground.

Randy Cochran Jr. led Otterbein with a season-best 12 tackles, 11 of them coming by himself. Justin Bartlett made another eight, with 3.5 behind the line of scrimmage and two sacks. Tinell Edwards played admirably on the defensive line and got in on nine assisted stops.

Otterbein will hit the road next weekend to play No. 2-ranked Mount Union, with start time in Alliance set for 1:30 p.m.
