ALLIANCE, Ohio – Make it five-straight victories to end the regular season for Otterbein, which hopes to be peaking at just the right time ahead of next week's Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament.
The Cardinals kept rolling Saturday afternoon up north with a comfortable 70-55 win over host Mount Union, sweeping the Raiders this season and improving to a 12-6 record against the OAC.
Otterbein (16-6 overall) will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming six-team bracket and hosts Wilmington on Tuesday night for a quarterfinal showdown. The Cards will be looking to top the Quakers for a third time this winter.
SATURDAY'S SCRIPT:
- Both teams came out rolling offensively with Otterbein leading 21-19 after the first quarter, which primarily remained a one-possession exchange.
Â
- The Cardinals created separation in the middle quarters to pull away. Otterbein strung together a 17-3 run in the second frame to open a double-digit gap.
Â
- Otterbein then dropped another 19 points in the third, posting a 10-3 stretch nearing the end of the period to run the lead near 20.
Â
- Mount Union trimmed the deficit to 11 with just over four minutes to play, but would get no closer as the Cards left town victorious.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
- Maizie King delivered perhaps her most impressive game of the season, posting a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. She was almost perfect from the field in shooting 7 for 8… and did all of this damage in just 18 minutes.
Â
- Kathleen DeCarlo led all players with 16 points on a 6-of-7 effort from the floor herself, doing a little bit of everything in the box score across her game-high 30 minutes. #TheJoker
