LAKE WALES, Fla. – Women's Lacrosse stormed back to finish its spring trip on a high note Saturday afternoon, dominating host Warner University 17-1 in jumping back over the .500 mark for this young season.
The Cardinals (3-2) entered off a tough neutral-site loss to Piedmont earlier in the week, but quickly took control over the Royals and left little doubt in the eventual margin.
Warner scored its lone goal less than 90 seconds into the game before Otterbein quickly settled in, finding the back of the net six times in the opening quarter. Five different players scored in the stretch.
The Cards led 10-1 at halftime and achieved running clock early in the third quarter behind more ball sharing and group efforts.
Otterbein finished with a 44-13 total shot advantage on the day and forced Warner goalie Kaylin Brown into making double-digit saves.
Eight different Cardinals enjoyed multi-point days while
Logan Fox and
Emily Willms both registered hat tricks.
Lauren Newkirk impacted the entire field by scoring, assisting, picking up three ground balls and causing two turnovers.
Otterbein will head back north to Ohio and take a full week off, ultimately returning to action next Saturday at Hope College. The team will also play at Franciscan in the final non-conference game.
