DANVILLE, Ky. – It was a split on the second day of another action-packed tournament for Otterbein this weekend on the volleyball court, as the Cardinals rebounded from an opening loss against Berry to take down host Centre in its own facility.
Otterbein finishes 3-1 at the event overall, sweeping Friday's slate before ending Saturday on a high note to now stand 6-6 on the year.

BERRY RECAP (L 3-0):
The Cardinals came up short against the No. 14-ranked Vikings by counts of 25-16, 25-15, 25-22. Berry (making the NCAA Sweet 16 last fall) won a trio of matches over Ohio schools at the event by topping Wittenberg, Otterbein and Denison.
Maddie Mergen and
Madison McCoy served as bright spots offensively for the Cards, hitting a combined 15-2-30 for a smooth .433 percentage around the net.
Berry hit .293 as a team for the contest while Otterbein managed just a .164 output. The Cardinals threw their best punch in the third frame, tying the set at 21-21 before the Vikings pulled away with three kills from Ryn Gaertner.

CENTRE RECAP (W 3-1):
Otterbein rinsed out that bad taste to beat the host Colonels on line scores of 21-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-19. Mergen and
Morgan Hartman both rocketed a dozen kills in the finale, with Mergen hitting .409 for another efficient display.
The Colonels did grab an early match lead, breaking a 19-19 tie and then widening a 22-21 score in closing time.
It would be all Otterbein from there, beginning with a dominant 25-12 victory in a second frame that saw the team sprint to a 15-5 lead. The Cards then culminated the third set on a 5-0 run after being deadlocked at 20-20.
Otterbein trailed 13-12 midway through the fourth set until a 9-4 run flipped the script, giving the team enough cushion to finish the deal. The Cards hit .241 behind 35 assists from the setting duo of
Olivia Vitaz and
Kailey Mishler.
Amanda Troyer's 28 digs spearheaded a nice defensive effort, which limited Centre to hit just .155 for the day. Otterbein remained aggressive in the serve game, committing 11 errors but also ripping off 11 aces.

A mid-week clash at Wittenberg is on deck before Otterbein hosts the OAC/HCAC Challenge featuring Ohio Northern, Transylvania and Mount St. Joseph come Friday night.
