Women's Soccer opens OAC schedule with 2-0 win at Mount Union

ALLIANCE — The Otterbein women's soccer team opened its Ohio Athletic Conference schedule with a win at Mount Union on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals found their rhythm after a quiet start, with junior Cami McCulty and senior Kesley Louderback netting key goals in a 2-0 victory.

The Game
  • There were no shot attempts until the seventh minute, but after that quiet stretch, Otterbein fired off four shots, eventually connecting with one.
  • The Cardinals kicked off conference play in typical style, finding the net in the 12th minute. Junior Camryn Earl delivered a corner kick, which McCulty met with a header in the box, freezing the goalkeeper and securing the game's opening goal.
  • With just over eight minutes left, Otterbein earned a free kick near the corner. Senior Lauren Alley sent the ball into the box, where Louderback charged in and took advantage of a missed high header attempt by a teammate, driving the ball into the net to secure the team's second goal of the game.
  • Junior Ella Schwertfager played all 90 minutes in goal for Otterbein and recorded three saves in the shutout.
  • Otterbein took a total of 17 shots with over seven of the shots being on goal.
  • There was a total of 15 fouls in the game.
