Women's Soccer battles hard, falls 1-0 at Marietta

MARIETTA — The Otterbein women's soccer team dropped its first OAC game of the season, falling 1-0 after a fierce battle at Marietta on Wednesday night.

The Basics
  • Records: Otterbein (6-3-2 overall, 1-1-0 OAC), Marietta (5-4-2 overall, 1-1-0 OAC)

The Game
  • After a hard fought back-and-forth battle in the first half, Marietta took the lead in the 33rd minute with a goal by Angelene Kontul, slipping through the Otterbein defense. 
  • In the second half, Otterbein's defense held firm, keeping the Pioneers from scoring again.
  • Sophomore Summer Patsko and senior Lauren Alley led the Otterbein offense with four shots each, while junior Camryn Earl and senior Bailey Zanella added two shots apiece.
  • Junior Ella Schwertfager played all 90 minutes in goal for Otterbein and recorded two saves.
