Football falls at John Carroll in penultimate game of season

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — The Otterbein football team fell 56-0 at John Carroll in Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon in the Cardinals' penultimate game of the season.

Otterbein Stat Leaders Game Summary
  • JCU opened the scoring with a 20-yard rushing touchdown with 11:33 left in the first quarter. The ensuing Cardinal possession was highlighted by a 30-yard pass from Lehmann to Walker to the JCU 30-yard line. But the Cardinals subsequently turned the ball over on downs after the next four Lehmann passes fell incomplete. The Blue Streaks added an 8-yard passing touchdown to end the first quarter up 14-0.
  • JCU scored on a passing touchdowns of 48 and 17 yards and a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter for a 35-0 halftime lead.
  • The Blue Streaks added a 1-yard rushing score and 47-yard passing touchdown in the third period to take a 49-0 lead into the fourth. The Blue Streaks capped the scoring with a 1-yard rushing touchdown with 14:56 left in the fourth.

Bartlett forced a fumble that was recovered by freshman Eliyah Mason on the ensuing JCU drive, but the Cardinals were unable to convert the turnover into points as sophomore Jordan Ermalovich took over at quarterback.
