WESTERVILLE, Ohio – A tough second half (and fourth quarter, specifically) against Mount Union unfortunately ended the season for Otterbein on Saturday in the Rike Center, as the Purple Raiders surged into control for a 62-50 outcome.
As a result, Mount slips into the six-team Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament bracket while the Cardinals rest just on the outside looking in. Both teams end their campaigns 7-11 in the OAC, but the Raiders earn the tiebreaker after sweeping the season series between the schools.
Prior to opening tip, the program recognized a trio of seniors in
Katie McCrary,
Claire Radabaugh and
Olivia Majors for their contributions to the program,, which has gone 52-38 since their arrival.
HOW IT PLAYED OUT:
- Otterbein led practically the entire first half, building a 14-8 lead near the end of the first quarter and then ballooning that margin to 26-15 with just a few minutes before intermission.
Â
- The Cardinals held Mount to just three points across an eight-minute stretch in the first half, and ultimately carried a nine-point cushion into the break.
Â
- Mount Union still trailed by eight midway through the third quarter before ripping off an 11-0 run to, all of a sudden, lead the contest entering a critical fourth.
Â
- McCrary had a key steal and fast-break layup midway through the culminating frame to keep her squad down just one (48-47), but it would be all Raiders from there…
Â
- The visitors responded with six points in a row and held Otterbein to just three points over the last five-plus minutes. All in all, it would go down as a 14-3 run to finish the day.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Maizie King flirted with another double-double at 13 points and eight rebounds, while Radabaugh (12) and McCrary (10) both reached double figures.
Â

Â
- Otterbein shot just 6 of 28 from the field in the second half compared to the Raiders going nearly 50%.
Â
- The game saw exactly 40 fouls whistled in 40 minutes.
Â
- Mount held a 32-18 scoring edge in the paint.
