BEREA, Ohio – An abnormal Saturday night matchup concluded with the Cardinals facing an 81-59 defeat against Baldwin Wallace. The Yellow Jackets secured their victory with a brief third quarter.
Trailing 40-30 as they entered the second half, the Cardinals struggled further with only 9 points in the third quarter. Despite a fourth-quarter surge with 22 points, it was not enough to overcome the Yellow Jackets.
Baldwin Wallace achieved a shooting accuracy of over 60% from three-point range in three out of the four quarters, while Otterbein was restricted to under 35% in the same three quarters. Otterbein capitalized on second-chance points, while Baldwin Wallace responded by doubling their scoring output from the bench.
Emily Irwin and Bella Vaillant contributed a total of 30 points, complemented by Caely Ressler and Leah Riley adding another combined 24 points. On the Cardinals' side, the scoring was distributed throughout, with nearly every player getting a share of points.
The home team held a 20-point lead going into the fourth quarter, maintaining this advantage throughout the final period to secure the win.
On Wednesday, Otterbein returns home to face Marietta inside the Rike Center, seeking to conjure up some Westerville Magic. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
