DELAWARE, Ohio – The Otterbein baseball team has now won 10 of its last 12 games heading into conference play, as the Cardinals worked past Ohio Wesleyan just up the road Friday afternoon by a final score of 9-1 at Littick Field.

Otterbein has now topped the Battling Bishops twice this season, having also won a 15-3 game to conclude the recent Florida trip. This time around, the Cards broke open a 4-1 contest in the seventh inning en route to a fourth win in a row.

KEY MOMENTS:
  • The Cardinals took the lead for good in the first inning on a double-steal sequence, where Jamie Perebzak kept himself alive long enough for Brayden Carter to move home from third. Two more runs came in the third when a Bishop throwing error allowed Caden Kirker to sprint home, and then Brayden Quincel singled to centerfield.

  • Ohio Wesleyan manufactured its lone run in the fourth when drawing a walk with the bases loaded.

  • Perebzak moved the ball for another run in the fifth and then Otterbein broke the game fairly open with three runs in the seventh, coming on a two-run homer from Quincel and sac fly via Logan Ullom.

  • Haruki Tada and Tyler Biddle knocked around hits in the ninth, helping further sequences to plate two insurance runs after Quincel led off with a double.
