Rigel Sets Program Record in 22-10 Triumph at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Led by a record-breaking performance from senior Carli Rigel, the Otterbein women's lacrosse team pulled away to comfortably take its conference opener 22-10 at Muskingum on Saturday afternoon.

Rigel set a new program single-game best with 14 points on the day, scoring 10 times and then assisting four other goals to best the former mark (12) set by Tory Blatt in 2012 against Waynesburg. Her 10 goals also ties the recent single-game mark by Emilly Willms.

Otterbein used an 8-0 run in the first half to pull away and never look back, opening a 10-2 lead by intermission before a high-scoring third quarter. The teams combined for 11 goals in the frame, although the Muskies never got within seven.

The Cardinals left little doubt in the final score across an assertive fourth, which saw another six goals from the visiting side and four straight to finish.

Otterbein held a 42-24 edge in total shots and was 20 of 23 clearing the ball. The Cards were also 3 for 4 on free-position attempts.

Rigel's 10 goals came on 16 shots. Alyssa Glenn found the back of the net another four times, while Courtney Costello picked up 10 ground balls.

Otterbein will have the middle of next week off before hosting Baldwin Wallace on Good Friday at 1 p.m.
