Otterbein Dominates Averett to Notch First Victory

DANVILLE, Va. – With nearly a dozen days off to regroup and enter spring break, the Otterbein men's lacrosse team catapulted into the win column Monday afternoon with a runaway 24-0 victory at Averett University.

The Cardinals, posting three touchdowns and a subsequent field goal, opened an 11-0 lead by intermission and then added another balanced effort in the second half at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.

KEY STRETCHES:
  • It took a little over three minutes of settling in before Otterbein kickstarted the scoring barrage, scoring twice in a 39-second span and then netting four more within three minutes of each other midway through the opening quarter.

  • Anthony Flores tallied his first goal of the season to begin the second, where five different Cardinals scored and Nathan Lewis beat the buzzer with an unassisted goal in the waning seconds.

  • Max Graham converted a man-up goal to begin the third, and freshman Jacob Eaton notched his first college goal as fourth-quarter scoring ensued. Sam Swished buried two for good measure down the stretch.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • A total of 13 different players scored for Otterbein, which ripped off 61 shots overall and held a 41-8 edge on goal.
