Men's Lax Thrashes Wilmington Behind Long List of Contributors

WILMINGTON, Ohio – It was a runaway win for an Otterbein men's lacrosse group that officially got back over .500 in both season columns Wednesday night, as the Cardinals thrashed host Wilmington 26-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

The Cardinals now stand 7-6 overall and 4-3 within the league slate as a result, with just two games left om the OAC regular-season slate.

THE RUNDOWN:

Otterbein scored six goals in just over the first six minutes of game time and the rest was history, building a 9-1 lead at the quarter turn and 14-1 cushion by halftime. That lead only grew with a full touchdown in the third frame and many young Cardinals were able to chart their first college points.

Seven players enjoyed multi-goal games, led by five from Sam Swisher and hat tricks from Jacob Eaton, Nathan Lewis and Andrew Lewis. Swisher and Eaton both had seven-point games altogether, while Zach Mulligan had three helpers in a distributing role.

Zach Courie and Ethan Foster split time in goal for the victory, each playing a half and combining to make four saves.

They weren't forced to do much as Otterbein won 24 of 31 faceoffs behind six different takers, with the top trio of Justin Dyer, Davis Tanaka and Chase Lagore combining to go 18 of 21.

Otterbein held shot margins of 58-17 overall and 39-7 on frame. The Cards were also 60 percent on extra-man opportunities while their defense was able to kill all six penalties the opposite way.

* NOTE - Various stat corrections are in progress and will be updated accordingly.

RIVALRY WEEKEND:

The Cardinals now return home and shift focus to cross-town rival Capital, which makes the quick trip to Westerville for a huge showdown at 1 p.m. It will also be Senior Day at Memorial Stadium.
