WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein football battled a tough Baldwin Wallace squad Saturday afternoon but came up short, falling 56-14.
In the first quarter, a punt by Carson Blank led to a fumbled return from Baldwin Wallace that was recovered by
Austin Burchinal, giving the Cardinals an early spark.
Otterbein got on the board in the second quarter thanks to a 41-yard rush from Braydon Bayles that set up a first-and-goal at the Baldwin Wallace 3-yard line. Junior
Matt Griffin finished the drive with a short touchdown run, followed by a Braydon Balandra extra point.
Early in the third quarter, Zane Duning returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, marking Otterbein's second score of the day. Duning also led the Cardinals with three receptions.
Freshman Rocco DeLorenzo paced the ground game with 106 rushing yards, while
Troy Montgomery led the defense with nine tackles and
Kaden Bruner added eight.
The Cardinals will continue OAC play next Saturday at home against Wilmington College. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m., and the game will also feature Hall of Fame Recognition Day.
