Hat tricks from Glenn, Domanik, Robey lead Women's Lacrosse to 13-11 win at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD — Sophomore Alyssa Glenn, senior Nina Domanik and junior Ava Robey all recorded hat tricks, combining for 17 points to lead the Otterbein women's lacrosse team to a 13-11 win at Wittenberg on Wednesday.

Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: After Wittenberg scored the opening goal, Glenn tied the score with a goal assisted by Robey with 8:45 left. Robey scored a goal of her own with 4:25 remaining to tie the score at 2-2 and added another score, assisted by Domanik, on a man-up opportunity for the Cardinals' first lead of the game with 3:21 left. Robey scored again, this time a free-position goal on a man-up opportunity, giving her a hat trick with 53 seconds left. But the Tigers added a goal with 23 seconds remaining to cut their deficit to 4-3 going into the second quarter.
  • Second Quarter: Domanik opened the scoring in the second quarter with a free-position goal to put Otterbein up 5-3 just 32 seconds into the period. A second consecutive goal from Domanik put the Cardinals up by three with 12:38 left, but the Tigers answered with three straight goals to tie the score at 6-6 with 6:20 remaining. The Cardinals regained the lead on a goal from Williams, assisted by Robey, just 33 seconds later, and Glenn scored with 4:52 left to make it an 8-6 edge. Domanik matched Robey with a hat trick, as the latter assisted the former's third goal of the game as Otterbein increased its scoring run to 3-0 and lead to 9-6 with 4:12 remaining. Nance saved a Wittenberg shot with 12 seconds left, and the Cardinals took that 9-6 edge into halftime.
  • Third Quarter: Wittenberg scored three of the first four goals of the second half to get back within one, 10-9, with 7:58 remaining. Domanik scored the Cardinals' lone goal in that stretch, giving her four for the game. Glenn ended that spurt with a man-up goal, assisted by Domanik, with 6:10 left, and Otterbein took that 11-9 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter: Neither team scored for the first 10-plus minutes of the quarter, but the Tigers notched a man-down goal with 4:48 left to get back within one. Otterbein answered with a goal from Glenn with 2:57 remaining, but the Tigers came right back with a free-position goal with 1:30 left. Trailing by one, the Tigers had another free-position shot with 1:16 left that was saved by Nance. Wittenberg gained control of the ground ball but turned it over, leading to the game-sealing goal from Glenn with one second left in the 13-11 victory.
