Glenn scores 5 goals as Women's Lacrosse falls at DePauw (Ind.)

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Sophomore Alyssa Glenn scored five goals to lead the Otterbein women's lacrosse team in 19-6 loss at DePauw (Ind.) on Sunday afternoon.

  • Glenn led the Cardinals' offense, netting five of their six goals on eight shots on goal while also contributing defensively with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
  • Freshman Emily Williams rounded out the scoring with a goal.

Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, scoring four consecutive goals to open the game. The Cardinals answered at the 5:34 mark and added two more to pull within one, with Glenn netting all three goals and Robey assisting on two. However, DePauw responded with three late goals in the final two minutes of the quarter, extending its lead to 7-2. Otterbein held a slight edge in clears, 4-3, but DePauw controlled the offensive pressure with a 15-4 shot advantage.
  • Second Quarter: Scoring remained limited in the quarter, with Otterbein tallying just one goal as Williams capitalized on a free-position shot at the 8:34 mark. DePauw struck early at 10:40 and added another with just six seconds left, heading into halftime with a 9-4 lead.
  • Third Quarter: Otterbein was outscored 6-2 in the third quarter as DePauw opened with a 3-0 run. The Cardinals broke the streak with a goal from Glenn off a feed from sophomore Abby Chappell. The Tigers responded with another three-goal surge before Glenn struck again for Otterbein, closing the quarter with DePauw leading 15-6.
  • Fourth Quarter: The Cardinals were held scoreless in the final quarter and did not register a single shot. DePauw added four more goals to close out the game with a 19-6 victory.
  • Key Team Stats: DePauw out-shot Otterbein by a 38-12 margin, and Otterbein finished with a 14-11 edge in ground balls. DePauw won 17 of the 28 draw controls. Otterbein had 21 turnovers to 15 for DePauw. 
Notables
  • Robey ranks third all-time at Otterbein in assists (78). Lauren Newkirk ranks second on the all-time list with 81. Robey has a team-high 10 assists and 16 points on the season. She has 58 goals and 136 points in her career.
  • Glenn has a team-high 14 goals this season and has recorded at least four goals in all three games. She has 59 career points on 54 goals and five assists.
  • Nance is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year and is Otterbein's all-time career leader in saves (472).
  • Head coach Brooke Delara is in her second year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 11-8 at the helm of the Cardinals.
