Glenn, Robey combine for 9 goals as Women's Lacrosse falls at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE — Sophomore Alyssa Glenn and junior Ava Robey combined for nine goals and 14 points as the Otterbein women's lacrosse team fell 18-10 at Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

  • Glenn finished with six goals and one assist for seven points. She added a team-high eight draw controls.

Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: The teams opened play with alternating goals en route to a 2-2 tie with 11:17 left. Glenn answered an OWU goal on an assist from Robey. After another Bishops goal, Robey scored on an assist from Domanik for the tie. OWU proceeded to close the quarter with three straight goals to take a 5-2 edge into the second period.
  • Second Quarter: The Bishops made it a 5-0 scoring run with the first two goals of the second quarter for a 7-2 lead with 8:13 left. The teams then closed out the period with alternating goals with Robey starting that stretch when she found the back of the net with 6:19 remaining. Glenn answered an OWU goal with a score assisted by Robey with 1:37 left. After another OWU goal, Robey capped the quarter with her third goal of the game with just six seconds remaining to send the Cardinals into halftime trailing 9-5.
  • Third Quarter: Williams opened the second-half scoring with a goal assisted by Domanik to cut the Otterbein deficit to three, but OWU responded with three straight scores for a 12-6 edge with 5:50 remaining. After a man-up goal from Glenn for her third score of the game, which was assisted by Robey, the Bishops capped the period with two straight goals to go into the fourth with a 14-7 lead.
  • Fourth Quarter: The Cardinals opened the final period with two consecutive goals from Glenn. The first came on a man-up opportunity and was assisted by Domanik, and the second got Otterbein back within five, 14-9. But the Bishops scored just 32 seconds later to spark a 4-0 run for an 18-9 lead with 3:33 left. Glenn capped the scoring with her sixth goal of the game, finding the back of the net with 16 seconds remaining on an assist from Robey.
  • Key Team Stats: OWU out-shot Otterbein by a 34-27 margin, and the Bishops finished with a 19-10 edge in ground balls. Otterbein won 19 of the 32 draw controls. Otterbein had 22 turnovers to 10 for Ohio Wesleyan.
Notables
  • Robey ranks second all-time at Otterbein in assists (82). Annie Kelly ('13-'16) is the program's all-time leader in career assists with 86. Robey has a team-high 14 assists and 23 points on the season. She has 61 goals and 143 points in her career.
  • Glenn has a team-high 20 goals this season and has recorded at least four goals in all four games. She has 66 career points on 60 goals and six assists.
  • Nance is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year and is Otterbein's all-time career leader in saves (477).
  • Head coach Brooke Delara is in her second year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 11-9 at the helm of the Cardinals.
  • Ohio Wesleyan leads the series with Otterbein by an 8-4 margin dating back to 2012 and has won four straight meetings.
