Women's Lacrosse falls to Oglethorpe (Ga.), Lynchburg (Va.) on spring break trip

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAKE WALES, Fla. — The Otterbein women's lacrosse team fell 24-2 to Lynchburg (Va.) at Warner University on Wednesday afternoon to cap a two-game spring break trip in Florida. The Cardinals opened play in Florida on Monday with a 16-6 loss to Oglethorpe (Ga.) at Northeast Regional Park.

Otterbein Stat Leaders vs. Oglethorpe
  • Freshman Emily Williams led the way for Otterbein, scoring a season-high three goals for her first career hat trick.
  • Junior Ava Robey recorded four points on one goal and three assists.

Game Highlights vs. Oglethorpe
  • First Quarter: Oglethorpe opened up a 4-1 lead, scoring the first goal of the game before Otterbein tied the score on a goal from Williams assisted by Robey, and then adding three unanswered goals. Another goal from Williams cut the Otterbein deficit to 4-2, but Oglethorpe scored with 43 seconds left to take a 5-2 edge into the second quarter.
  • Second Quarter: Oglethorpe out-scored Otterbein 3-0 in the period to take an 8-2 lead into halftime.
  • Third Quarter: Glenn scored on an assist from Robey with 11:04 left to answer a goal from Oglethorpe, making the score 9-3. The Stormy Petrels answered with a 4-0 run before Williams tallied her third goal of the game, assisted by Robey, with just 15 seconds remaining, sending the Cardinals into the fourth period trailing 13-4.
  • Fourth Quarter: Oglethorpe closed out the game outscoring Otterbein 3-2 for the 16-6 win. The Cardinals' two goals in the period came from Glenn and Robey.

  • Glenn tallied two goals and a team-high three draw controls.
  • Williams posted one assist.
  • Nance and freshman Alyana Bogner each played 30 minutes in goal for Otterbein. Nance recorded six saves, and Bogner added three.
Game Highlights vs. Lynchburg
  • First Quarter: After Lynchburg scored the first two goals of the game, Glenn got Otterbein on the board with a goal on an assisted from Williams. The Hornets added four unanswered goals, taking a 6-1 lead with 3:19 left. Glenn found the back of the net again with 1:55 remaining, but Lynchburg added a goal just before the end of the period for a 7-2 lead.
  • Second Quarter: The Hornets outscored the Cardinals 5-0 in the second quarter to take a 12-2 lead into halftime.
  • Third Quarter: Lynchburg added seven more goals in the period to take a 19-2 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter: The Hornets closed the game outscoring Otterbein 5-0 over the final 15 minutes for the 24-2 win.
  • Key Team Stats: Lynchburg out-shot Otterbein by a 44-5 margin, and the Hornets finished with a 13-7 edge in ground balls. Lynchburg won 19 of the 26 draw controls. Otterbein had 18 turnovers to four for Lynchburg.

  • Robey ranks second all-time at Otterbein in assists (85). Annie Kelly ('13-'16) is the program's all-time leader in career assists with 86. Robey has a team-high 17 assists and 27 points on the season. She has 62 goals and 147 points in her career.
  • Glenn has a team-high 24 goals this season. She has 70 career points on 64 goals and six assists.
  • Nance is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year and is Otterbein's all-time career leader in saves (494).
  • Head coach Brooke Delara is in her second year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 11-11 at the helm of the Cardinals.
