Baseball falls to Haverford (Pa.) in fourth game of spring break trip

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Otterbein baseball team fell 11-6 to Haverford (Pa.) in the fourth of its eight-game slate in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic on Monday.

The Basics

Otterbein Stat Leaders
  • Senior Charlie Greenlief led the Otterbein offense with two hits and two runs.
  • Graduate student Jamie Perebzak and senior Logan Ullom posted matching stat lines of one hit, one run and one walk.
  • Senior Max McCann and freshman JT Gels each tallied a double and one RBI.
  • Freshman Daniel Uhl had a double and one run.
  • Sophomore Grady Kehr got the pitching start for the Cardinals and recorded five strikeouts over 4.2 innings.
Game Highlights
  • Haverford scored first, plating a run in the bottom of the third inning on a wild pitch.
  • Otterbein answered with three runs in the top of the fourth. Perebzak scored on a Haverford error following a single from Greenlief, and Gels added an RBI double. Senior Tyler Biddle made it a 3-1 lead on an RBI sacrifice bunt.
  • Haverford tied the score in the bottom of the fourth with a 2-RBI double, but the Cardinal retook the lead on an RBI double from McCann in the top of the fifth.
  • Haverford responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the sixth for a 9-4 lead.
  • The Cardinals plated a pair of runs in the top of the eighth. Sophomore Stevie Monokandilos was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and senior Jake Brown reached on an RBI fielder's choice, making the score 9-6.
  • Haverford capped the scoring with two more runs in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI triple and wild pitch.
  • Haverford out-hit Otterbein by an 11-7 margin. The Cardinals committed no errors to Haverford's one.
Notables 
  • Named the OAC Player of the Year and CSC Second Team Academic All-America in 2024, Perebzak ranks eighth all-time at Otterbein in hits (204), fourth in doubles (46), 11th in home runs (20) and third in RBIs (171).
  • Ullom has 89 hits, 23 doubles and 43 RBIs in his Otterbein career. He has a team-high 17 hits and seven doubles this season. He has hit safely in eight straight games and nine of the 10 games this season. Six of those were multi-hit games.
  • Head coach George Powell is in his 26th year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 612-426-1 at the helm of the Cardinals. He is a six-time OAC Coach of the Year honoree and has coached the Cardinals to three OAC regular-season championships and six OAC Tournament titles.
