Women's Lacrosse returns home, falls to Oberlin

WESTERVILLE — Returning home from a spring break trip in Florida, the Otterbein women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-3 game to Oberlin on Saturday.

The Basics
  • Records: Otterbein (1-6 overall), Oberlin (3-4 overall)

Otterbein Stat Leaders
  • Sophomore Alyssa Glenn scored two goals to lead the Cardinals.
  • Senior Nina Domanik added one goal and one assist for two points.
  • Senior Maggie Nance played the first three quarters in goal for Otterbein and recorded 11 saves.
Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: Domanik answered an Oberlin goal with one of her own to tie the score at 1-1 with 9:58 left. The Yeowomen found the back of the net with 2:57 remaining and took that 2-1 edge into the second quarter.
  • Second Quarter: Otterbein scored the first two goals of the second period, both of which came courtesy of Glenn. The second score was assisted by Domanik and put the Cardinals up 3-2 with 13:09 left. But Oberlin responded with four unanswered goals to take a 6-3 lead into halftime.
  • Third Quarter: Oberlin outscored Otterbein 5-0 in the third quarter to take an 11-3 edge into the final period.
  • Fourth Quarter: The Yeowomen added five more goals to their tally while holding Otterbein scoreless over the final 15 minutes en route to the 16-3 win.
  • Key Team Stats: Oberlin out-shot Otterbein by a 31-15 margin, and the Yeowomen finished with a 22-11 edge in ground balls. Otterbein won 12 of the 22 draw controls. Otterbein had 26 turnovers to 15 for Oberlin.
Notables
  • Junior Ava Robey ranks second all-time at Otterbein in assists (85). Annie Kelly ('13-'16) is the program's all-time leader in career assists with 86. Robey has a team-high 17 assists this season. She has 62 goals and 147 points in her career.
  • Glenn has a team-high 26 goals this season. She has 72 career points on 66 goals and six assists.
  • Nance is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year and is Otterbein's all-time career leader in saves (505).
  • Head coach Brooke Delara is in her second year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 11-12 at the helm of the Cardinals.
