Robey breaks program's all-time assist record as Women's Lacrosse falls to Capital

WESTERVILLE — Junior Ava Robey became the program's all-time career assist leader as the Otterbein women's lacrosse team opened its Ohio Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday with a 19-6 loss to Capital in the Battle for the Oar rivalry.

  • First Quarter: Capital built an early 5-0 lead before Otterbein found the back of the net with a man-up goal from Williams on an assist from Robey. That assist tied the program's all-time career record of 86, set by Annie Kelly. The Comets closed the quarter with six unanswered goals over the final 6:15 to take an 11-1 lead into the second period.
  • Second Quarter: Otterbein scored the first two goals of the second quarter. Robey tallied a man-down goal on an assist from Wallace, and Glenn found the back of the net with 7:51 left, making the score 11-3. Capital capped the scoring in the period, tallying a goal with 5:45 left to take a 12-3 edge into halftime.
  • Third Quarter: Otterbein opened the scoring in the third quarter with a man-up goal from Cromwell on an assist from Robey, giving her the program's all-time career record. Capital followed with four unanswered goals over the final 7:11 of the period to take a 16-4 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter: Robey tallied her second goal of the game on a man-up opportunity with 11:11 left before the Comets responded with three straight goals. The Cardinals capped the scoring with a goal from Glenn with 2:14 remaining.
  • Key Team Stats: Capital out-shot Otterbein by a 34-16 margin, and the Comets finished with a 19-17 edge in ground balls. Capital won 22 of the 27 draw controls. Otterbein had 14 turnovers to 20 for Capital.
Notables
  • Robey is the Otterbein women's lacrosse program's all-time leader in assists (87), surpassing the previous record of 86 set by Annie Kelly ('13-'16). Robey has a team-high 19 assists this season. She has 64 goals and 151 points in her career.
  • Glenn has a team-high 28 goals this season. She has 74 career points on 68 goals and six assists.
  • Nance is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year and is Otterbein's all-time career leader in saves (514).
  • Head coach Brooke Delara is in her second year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 11-13 at the helm of the Cardinals.
  • Capital leads the series with Otterbein by a 10-2 margin dating back to 2014 and has won 10 straight meetings.
