Glenn, Robey combine for 14 points as Women's Lacrosse falls to Centre (Ky.)

WESTERVILLE — Sophomore Alyssa Glenn and junior Ava Robey combined for 14 points as the Otterbein women's lacrosse team fell 18-11 to Centre (Ky.) on Monday.

Otterbein Stat Leaders
  • Glenn led the Otterbein offense with eight points on six goals and two assists.
  • Robey added six points on three goals and three assists. She added a team-high three caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • Freshman Emily Williams scored two goals.
  • Senior Nina Domanik tallied two assists to go with one from senior Abby Chappell.
  • Senior Maggie Nance recorded 11 saves in 53-plus minutes in goal for the Cardinals.
Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: Centre scored the first three goals of the game, but Otterbein answered with two of its own. Robey found the back of the net on an assist from Glenn, and the former assisted the latter for the second score, bringing the Cardinals within one with 5:05 left. The Colonels stretched their lead to 5-2 before Otterbein capped the scoring in the period with a goal from Glenn with 1:41 left.
  • Second Quarter: Otterbein got back within one courtesy of a goal from Williams, assisted by Robey, with 11:11 left. The Colonels responded with a goal, but the Cardinals got goals from Robey and Glenn to tie the score at 6-6 with 9:39 remaining. Domanik assisted Robey's goal, and Chappell had the assist on Glenn's score. The Colonels closed the half with a pair of goals over the final 6:47 to take an 8-6 edge into halftime.
  • Third Quarter: Centre scored three of the first four goals of the second half to take an 11-7 lead. Glenn was responsible for Otterbein's lone goal in that span and added her fifth score of the game with 3:06 left, making the score 11-8. The Colonels capped the quarter with a pair of goals over the final 2:01 to take a 13-8 edge into the fourth.
  • Fourth Quarter: Robey tallied her third goal of the game, assisted by Glenn, just 55 seconds into the final period, bringing Otterbein within four. But Centre scored three unanswered goals to go up by seven, 16-9, with 6:50 left. Glenn scored her sixth goal 13 seconds later. After another Centre goal, Williams found the back of the net for her second goal of the game, which was assisted by Robey. The Colonels capped the scoring with a goal with 1:20 left en route to the 18-11 win.
  • Key Team Stats: Centre out-shot Otterbein by a 33-31 margin, and the Colonels finished with a 24-16 edge in ground balls. Both teams won 16 draw controls. Otterbein had 20 turnovers to 16 for Centre.
Notables
  • Robey is the Otterbein women's lacrosse program's all-time leader in assists (90). Robey has a team-high 22 assists this season. She has 67 goals and 157 points in her career.
  • Glenn has a team-high 34 goals this season. She has 82 career points on 74 goals and eight assists.
  • Nance is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year and is Otterbein's all-time career leader in saves (525).
  • Head coach Brooke Delara is in her second year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 11-14 at the helm of the Cardinals.
  • Otterbein and Centre last played in February 2022 with the Cardinals coming away with a 16-10 win in Westerville.
