Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: On Feb. 26, Otterbein scored the first three goals of the game courtesy of Rainone, Graham and Andrew Lewis to create some early separation going into a lengthy lightning delay with 9:30 remaining in the period. The teams were able to resume play for just over three minutes of game time before lightning was detected again, which led to the decision to suspend the game. When action resumed on Tuesday, the Scots found the back of the net with 2:58 left to cut the deficit to 3-1 going into the second quarter.
  • Second Quarter: Otterbein opened the scoring in the second quarter with a goal from Dean on an assist from Graham for a 4-1 edge with 12:19 remaining. But Wooster responded with two consecutive goals, the second coming on a man-up opportunity, to cut its deficit to one with 8:56 left. Rainone added a goal, his second of the game, with 6:03 remaining, and the Scots answered less than three minutes later to get back within one. Graham added his second goal of the game, assisted by Rainone, with 2:12 left, and completed his hat trick with a man-up goal assisted by Dean just 40 seconds later to send the Cardinals into halftime with a 7-4 lead.
  • Third Quarter: After picking up a ground ball, the Cardinals attempted four consecutive shots that all were off the mark between the 10:25 and 9:42 marks of the quarter. Otterbein continued holding its 7-4 lead until a Wooster goal with 6:28 remaining. Graham notched his fourth goal of the game with 2:49 left, but the Scots closed the quarter with a goal with 1:16 remaining, cutting the Otterbein lead to 8-6 going into the final quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter: Mulligan scored a man-up goal, assisted by Andrew Lewis, to open the scoring in the period, but Wooster again answered a goal of its own. A goal from Moore on an assist from senior Jackson Jerdonek put the Cardinals up 10-7 with 11:29 left before the Scots answered with 9:45 remaining to get back within two. Otterbein put together a late 3-0 run to help secure the victory. Regruth started that spurt with a man-up goal assisted by Nathan Lewis. The Lewis brothers connected for the second goal of that span, as Nathan assisted a man-up goal by Andrew. Graham capped that run with his fifth goal of the game to put the Cardinals up 13-8 with 1:03 left. Wooster added a man-down goal with 14 seconds left, making the final score 13-9.
  • Key Team Stats: Wooster out-shot Otterbein by a 55-39 margin, and the Scots finished with a 20-18 edge in ground balls. Wooster won 17 of the 25 faceoffs. Otterbein had 17 turnovers to 16 for Wooster.
