Quotes
  • Senior Olivia Shore on her championship match: "I felt really good out there. It wasn't my best match, but at the end of the day, I trusted myself and trusted the Lord and trusted my team, and I'm excited to bring this championship back to Westerville! Go Cards!"
  • Head coach Chris Kline: "I'm so incredibly thankful. This year was all about making history in starting this program at Otterbein. We had four girls make it to the national tournament, and they all won matches. They all set the tone for what we want our program to be in the future, and we came away with a national champion. It's absolutely amazing. Olivia is the most deserving person I know and the most consistent and hardest worker I know. It's amazing to see what she's overcome, and for her to come to Otterbein and be happy and achieve her goal from what we set from day one, it's amazing to see that she made it happen."
  • Freshman Grace Murphy: "I'm so blessed to have this opportunity, and I'm really thankful to my coaches for getting me here. This is the best tournament that I've felt all year, and I'm super grateful to have this opportunity, and I'm excited to lock in and work harder for next season."
  • Freshman Hailey Hatfield: "This has been a great experience and a great year. I've never had a team that has pushed me this hard and worked this hard. It's great having this family that's so tight. I'm really happy with how I did this year. It was better than I thought it was going to be, and I exceeded my expectations, and I'm excited to see what next year holds."
  • Freshman Rylee Touhalisky: "I'm grateful I got the opportunity to wrestle at the national level and see what high-level competition looks like. My goal here was to not go 0-2, and I achieved that. I won a match at nationals, which shows I can compete at the national level. I had no expectations of myself coming into this tournament, so winning that match felt pretty good. Now I know what I need to work towards for next season and what I need to get better at. Having a family-like environment with my team and coaches really helped me get to where I am today, and I know I have the support to get me even further next season."
