Leonhardt goes 4-0 at Gannon Duals

ERIE, Pa. – Back on the mats for the first time in nearly a month, the Otterbein University women's wrestling team took on some top competition at the Gannon Duals. The Cardinals turned in a 1-3 record on the day, picking up a win over Waynesburg University. 

First year 124-pounder Morgan Leonhardt was a perfect 4-0 on the day, earning two tech falls and a pair of falls. She improved to 12-3 on the season with seven falls.

Gannon 32 Otterbein 11
Otterbein's two wins came at 110 and 124, thanks to Kellie Kennedy and Leonhardt. At 110, Kennedy used a first period pin over Angelina Hargate to earn five points for the Cardinals. Her pin came in 2:30. Leonhardt followed with a pin at 124, hers coming in 1:56. 

Lehigh 34 Otterbein 13
Freshman Vita Savage kicked off the Lehigh dual with a pin in 3:37 over Hattie Mack for five Cardinal points. Leonhardt earned her second win of the day with an 11-0 tech fall at 124 to give Otterbein its second win of the match. Alicia Coleman, Jada Weiss, Audrey Garcia and Raegan Hites all earned one point in their respective bouts. 

Otterbein 39 Waynesburg 10
After a pair of forfeits saw Otterbein leading 10-0, the Jackets took the 117 bout to get on the board. Leonhardt swung the momentum back to the Cardinals with a quick 10-0 tech fall at 124. Freshman Kira Cole needed just 24 seconds to pin Melanie Matherson at 131, and Abby Green followed suit with a 23 second pin at 138 over Calista Binning. Another WU forfeit was followed by a fall at 180 from HItes in 23 seconds to secure a commanding victory for Otterbein. 

West Liberty 31 Otterbein 14
Savage secured four points for the Cardinals in their final dual of the day with a 10-0 tech fall over Sydney Chambers. Otterbein's second win would come from Leonhardt's 38 second pin over Abby Dicenzo. Two bouts later, Coleman gritted out a 10-2 victory to serve as Otterbein's final individual win. Both Weiss and Marvet Hejazin scored points in their bouts. 

Next Saturday, Otterbein heads to Tiffin to compete in the Berg Holiday Duals, hosted by Heidelberg University.
