UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Sophomore Jack Regruth netted a trio of goals for a hat trick as the Otterbein men's lacrosse team dropped a 23-7 game at Ohio Athletic Conference foe John Carroll on Wednesday night.

Game Highlights

• First Quarter: JCU scored the first five goals of the game before Otterbein got on the board courtesy of a goal from Graham and one from Regruth, assisted by Dean, with 5:03 and 3:39 left, respectively. The Blue Streaks scored with 2:12 remaining and took that 6-2 lead into the second quarter.
• Second Quarter: The Blue Streaks continued to extend their lead to 12-2 in the second period, scoring the first six goals of the quarter. Regruth scored his second goal of the game, assisted by sophomore Andrew Lewis, on a man-up opportunity with 2:00 left, and Dean found the back of the net on an assist from Regruth just 10 seconds later to send the Cardinals into halftime trailing 12-4.
• Third Quarter: Otterbein scored back-to-back goals, getting one from Nathan Lewis on an assist from Dean and one from Graham, to make the score 13-6 with 6:20 left. But JCU added a goal with 2:11 remaining to take a 14-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
• Fourth Quarter: The Blue Streaks scored eight unanswered goals to open the final period before Regruth completed his hat trick with 1:37 remaining, scoring on an assist from Nathan Lewis. JCU capped the scoring with a goal with 27 seconds left.
• Key Team Stats: Otterbein out-shot John Carroll by a 51-39 margin, and the Cardinals finished with a 36-34 edge in ground balls. Each team won 17 of the 34 faceoffs. Otterbein committed 17 turnovers to 15 for John Carroll.
