Women's Lacrosse falls at Mount Union

ALLIANCE — The Otterbein women's lacrosse team fell 26-2 at Mount Union in Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Records: Otterbein (1-11 overall, 0-3 OAC), Mount Union (8-4 overall, 3-1 OAC)

Otterbein Stat Leaders
  • Freshman Emily Williams posted two points on one goal and one assist and added two draw controls.
  • Junior Ava Robey tallied one goal, two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
  • Sophomore Alyssa Glenn posted two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
  • Senior Maggie Nance played 35-plus minutes in goal and recorded 11 saves.
Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: Mount Union opened the scoring by finding the back of the net with 10:30 left in a man-down situation and ended the period with a 6-0 lead.
  • Second Quarter: The Purple Raiders outscored the Cardinals 7-0 in the quarter to take a 13-0 lead into halftime.
  • Third Quarter: Mount Union added two more goals to its tally for a 15-0 edge before Otterbein got on the board with a goal from Robey on an assist from Williams with 7:04 left. The Purple Raiders ended the period with three unanswered goals for an 18-1 lead going into the fourth.
  • Fourth Quarter: After a Mount Union goal to open the quarter, the Cardinals scored their second goal of the game courtesy of Williams with 12:49 remaining. The Purple Raiders outscored Otterbein 7-0 to close out the game.
  • Key Team Stats: Mount Union out-shot Otterbein by a 49-5 margin, and the Purple Raiders finished with a 26-8 edge in ground balls. Mount Union won 23 of the 31 draw controls. Otterbein had 23 turnovers to 13 for Mount Union.
Notables
  • Robey is the Otterbein women's lacrosse program's all-time leader in assists (91). Robey has 70 goals and 161 points in her career.
  • Glenn has 89 career points on 80 goals and nine assists.
  • Nance is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year and is Otterbein's all-time career leader in saves (560).
  • Entering Saturday, Glenn ranked fourth in the OAC in goals (40) this season, while Robey ranked fifth in assists (23) and Nance ranked second in saves (98).
  • Head coach Brooke Delara is in her second year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 11-17 at the helm of the Cardinals.
  • Mount Union is 16-0 against Otterbein dating back to 2013.
