Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Wallace scores in draw at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Taking on an unbeaten Wittenberg team, the Otterbein University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with the Tigers on Wednesday. Freshman Lincoln Wallace netted his second goal in as many games, as the Cardinals moved to 1-1-2 on the young season.

The teams played to a very tightly contested opening half until Wittenberg struck first. Outshooting the visitors 8-1 in the period, the Tigers finally broke through in the 40th minute for a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

Early in the second half, Otterbein scored the equalizer. Nick Isaac beat his defender into the corner and played a ball into the box. Looking like it found the feet of a Tiger defender ready to be cleared, a beautiful hustle play by Patrick Ahrens allowed the ball to find Wallace. The freshman beat the Wittenberg keeper to his right to even the match in the 47th minute.

Down the stretch, neither team could capitalize on the go-ahead score. Otterbein held the edge in corners, 7-2, including six in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper notched three saves in net for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals return to their home pitch on Saturday, welcoming Geneva College for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
