Men's tennis opens fall season

WESTERVILLE – Kicking off their fall season, the Otterbein University men's tennis team played Division II Cedarville University. The Cardinals fell in a tough matchup, 7-0. 

Cedarville won the doubles point, but Otterbein battled in first doubles. Max Fickas and Sanjan Shanker narrowly fell in a gritty 7-5 contest. At second doubles, juniors Nikita Kitaev and Jake Chilcote were downed in a 6-3 match. 

The visitors swept singles play, but at fifth singles Neil Reddy battled hard before falling in a tiebreaker. After dropping his first set 6-3, he responded with a 6-3 win in the next. Ultimately, Reddy fell in the tiebreaker 10-6. 

The team returns to action this weekend. Some members will compete at the ITA Regional hosted by Kalamazoo College, while others will be at the Big Red Invitational at Denison University.
